Why Core is different

Cardiovascular function is one of the most consequential systems to preserve as we age.
Blood vessels become less flexible. Endothelial function can decline. Blood pressure tends to rise.
These changes are part of the physiology of aging, even before disease is present.
And the cardiovascular system does not operate in isolation.
It supplies oxygen and nutrients to nearly every tissue in the body, from the brain and muscles to the kidneys, skin and other organs.
That made cardiovascular function a powerful first place to ask a larger question:

With age, arteries tend to become less flexible and endothelial responsiveness can decline.
Blood pressure also commonly rises across adulthood.
These are measurable changes in physiology, which makes the cardiovascular system highly relevant to healthy-aging research.
The whole body depends on it
The cardiovascular system delivers oxygen, nutrients and hormonal signals, and helps transport metabolic products throughout the body.
Healthy circulation therefore supports much more than the heart. It supports the environment in which cells and organs throughout the body function.

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, and risk rises substantially with age.

One important system within a much broader aging process, and one of the clearest places to measure whether that process is being supported.

Cardiovascular function was the first major physiological system we measured in humans. It was not the only system NOVOS Core was designed to support.

The cardiovascular study gave us something especially valuable:
a way to test whether that upstream formulation approach could produce downstream measurable effects on human physiology.
From signals to function
Many studies show that a molecule or laboratory marker changed. That can be scientifically useful.
But for NOVOS Core, we also wanted to know something more consequential: did an important physiological system actually function differently?

A blood vessel can dilate differently. An artery can transmit a pressure wave differently. Blood pressure can change. These measurements assess how the cardiovascular system actually performs.
That is a much higher bar.
NOVOS Core was not evaluated only by asking whether a molecule moved. We measured whether a major aging-related physiological system functioned differently in humans.
Core was tested at both levels, and the randomized human study focused on functional physiology.

RANDOMIZED HUMAN RESEARCH
In a six-month randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human study, NOVOS Core demonstrated beneficial effects over placebo on multiple functional biomarkers used in aging and cardiovascular research.
Human clinical data is the strongest form of validation, and its meaning deepens when multiple independent measures point in the same positive direction.
Publication status: manuscript under peer review at the time of writing.

Flow-mediated dilation measures how effectively an artery expands when blood flow increases.
In published research, each 1% improvement in FMD has been associated with better cardiovascular outcomes in observational populations. A 2.9% change is considered a substantial magnitude in the FMD literature.

Null studies were not thrown away.
A supplement literature review can look much more impressive if only successful studies are shown. This benchmark retained qualifying null results as well as significant results.
Meals can temporarily influence vascular tone, blood flow and blood-pressure measurements. The NOVOS Core sustained measurements were taken fasted.
For the strictest like-for-like comparison, competitor results also had to be measured under fasted conditions. This produced the 55-comparison primary benchmark.

Animal lifespan studies can test long-duration whole-organism outcomes that cannot practically be studied across a human lifespan. They do not establish that NOVOS Core extends human lifespan.
